OTE, Opportunities Through English

Three colleagues from different countries working together over a laptop and notebooks.
Real Stories. Real Opportunities.

English creates possibilities.
What happens next matters more.

OTE brings together insight, guidance, trusted connections and practical support to help organisations make better decisions — and create opportunities that genuinely work for the people they serve.

English is often the beginning, not the outcome.

People and organisations invest considerable time, money and ambition in English because they expect it to lead somewhere — better employment, education, international business, mobility or opportunity.

Sometimes it does.

Sometimes the course, qualification or programme is delivered — but the expected outcome doesn’t follow.

OTE is interested in what happens between the two.

What OTE is

A professional voice and a network, not a language school.

Advice first. Opportunity second.

OTE isn’t built around selling one particular product or solution.

We start with the problem or opportunity.

That may lead to insight and guidance, a focused piece of advisory work, an introduction, a partnership or simply a clearer idea of what to do next.

The starting point is what makes sense — not what we have to sell.

Who we work with

Different organisations. A shared question.

How can English create greater opportunity for the people you serve?

From growing businesses to international employers — using English to support workforce capability, communication, employee development and international growth.

Connecting English more effectively with study, progression, employability and internationalisation.

Exploring where English can contribute to education, employment, mobility and wider opportunity.

Helping providers strengthen their offer, partnerships, positioning and routes to market.

How OTE can help

We don’t assume every organisation needs the same answer.

Depending on the challenge or opportunity, OTE can provide:

Insight & Guidance

Independent perspective, practical guidance and informed challenge.

Advisory Support

Focused support around English, international education, workforce development, partnerships and market opportunities.

Introductions & Connections

Connecting organisations with people, providers and potential partners where there is a genuine reason for them to talk.

Partnership Development

Helping identify, shape and develop partnerships that can create sustainable value.

Reviews & Projects

Short, defined pieces of work examining a particular challenge, programme or opportunity.

Insights

Useful thinking. Practical questions.

Perspectives and practical guidance on English, education, work and the opportunities that connect them.

About OTE

Built on experience. Open to better ideas.

OTE was founded by David de Jager, drawing on many years of experience across English-language education, online learning, international partnerships and business development.

But OTE isn’t intended to be about one person’s expertise.

The aim is to bring together experienced people, organisations, perspectives and connections where they can genuinely help create better outcomes.

David de Jager

David de Jager’s career has spanned English-language education, international business, technology and partnerships. He founded online English-learning platform Perfectly Spoken and led the business until its acquisition by Lingu in 2025.

His experience working with people and organisations across different countries and cultures helped shape the thinking behind Opportunities Through English: combining experience with curiosity, practical insight and the expertise and connections of others.

His approach is deliberately relationship-led: understand first, be useful, and then see whether there is a reason to work together.

Partners

Good opportunities rarely happen in isolation.

Education providers, employers, NGOs, technology companies, advisers and specialists often have complementary needs — but don’t necessarily know each other.

Part of OTE’s role is to help make useful connections between the right people.

Not networking for its own sake. Connections with a reason.

Contact

Start with the question.

You don’t need to know which OTE service you need.

Tell us what you’re trying to achieve, what isn’t working, or where you see an opportunity.

We can start there.
